Drawing

The seasonal school garden offers ever-changing material to draw. Drawing helps students develop keen observation. Sketching may take place in the classroom orĀ as weather warms, out in the gardens. Drawing boards are located in the tool shed.

Artist and Atkinson parent Diane Jacobs worked with Charlene Parr’s first grade studentsĀ to draw late fall seed pods and other plant forms. To discourage erasures, students used thin-line black pens. Plant pods, seeds, leaves, and branches were passed around to examine and then draw.
