Maintenance

Maintenance Overview

Many hands make light work.

At the heart of the Multicultural Garden (MCG) sits a globe created and donated to Atkinson by artists from the group Cracked Pots. Garden beds radiate outward, each class assigned a bed. The MCG garden site includes cold frames, a compost pile, tool shed, and trees with native plants below. Currently, each Atkinson garden has a Garden Steward who is responsible for maintenance with each garden tended by specific grades. On Service Fridays, Garden Stewards or others work with students to maintain assigned gardens. In addition, there are community volunteer work parties throughout the year.
