January

In the Gardens

  • Look for signs of winter such as twig forms and plant material in various states of decay.
  • Record and sketch in garden journals.
  • View and sketch with loupe magnification.
  • Instead of drawing with pencils have students try drawing with black “thin line” pens.
  • Third grade classes should observe “Changes” plant for its winter form.
  • Younger students might try to see letters in branches and other places in the garden.
